When I had the opportunity to collaborate with Erin Wagner in NYC recently I was thrilled. Erin and I shot a very cool, almost GQ inspired editorial at The Time Hotel in midtown. Our editorial was featured in Cake Mag, an independant exclusive content magazine that showcases some of the best talent behind the lens. You can see the full editorial here. Hope you enjoy.
New Editorial Photography
I have been busy at work and am playing catch up. 5 editorials dropped almost simultaneously. I shot 2 editorials for the first edition of Coy Magazine, which is a really cool independent fashion and art magazine from the Uk. The others were for The Bski Mag, Lions Magazine, and Reseur Mag. All European based publications where my style is a little more well received. Toronto is still wrapping its mind around real photography. Last but not least, I shot an interview for The Idle Man with featuring Nola Palmer which can be viewed here. Really cool interview because she gives some honest answers. Check it out.
Life Without Andy
Guido Di Salle has been able to build a stellar portfolio in the 18 months since he first picked up a camera – a great indication of his attention to detail and natural ability behind the lens.
I recently did an interview for Life Without Andy, a website originating out of Bondi, Australia that covers everything cutting edge from fashion and music, to photography and art. The interview in its entirety can be read here. It is a humbling experience because they really only cover the upper echelon of artists in their respective industries. I have been up to a lot of different things lately, and have many new fashion and lifestyle editorials that will be coming out in the near future. Toronto is a very conservative market and I am literally trying to re invent the wheel when it comes to the way fashion photography in Toronto is done. My photography blurs the lines between sex and fashion and I am happy to say that I have been getting noticed much more lately as there is a growing list of models and agencies wanting to collaborate on different projects. If you have some time give the interview a read and share with friends. The exposure helps, and is always greatly appreciated.
Rookie for Sticks and Stones Agency
Recently re-connected with Rookie and Chloe Sugar to shoot a little set for Sticks and Stones Agency. The set can be viewed here. We shot a lot of different looks, with some natural light, and flash photography. Rookie is one of my fave girls to work with not only because of her natural beauty, but also because of her down to earth personality. Keep an eye on this girl, she is one to watch.
Hinson for Var Magazine
Recently shot Hinson Chaplin for Var Magazine ( New York based publication) , and all I can say is WOW. Hinson doesn't really need an introduction as her breathtaking beauty is clearly obvious in the photos. The snapshot style of photography I do is perfect for her because she really is a natural. Throw in some vintage fashion, some good music, and a decent location, and you end up with what I think is some of my best imagery. This girl is one to watch.
Coy Culture Exclusive
Head over to Coy Culture here and check out my latest collaboration with Alexis. We do a little more fashion oriented photography here and had a blast shooting something retro inspired, which is my idea of a good time. Also take some time to enjoy Coy Culture and check out other editorials. It is an eclectic mix of some of the worlds hottest emerging talent. Enjoy.
Vacant for Fshnunlimited
When I started my photography career just over a year ago I would have never imagined the positive feedback and accomplishments that I would achieve along the way. Vacant is an editorial I shot some time ago for Fshnunlimited. What is Fshnunlimited? It is Canada's answer to The Love Magazine, or Garage, or Tank. We are basically talking about a legendary magazine that once you buy, you never throw away. The quality of the magazine is unsurpassed, with thick pages as stock, and oversized so you can really appreciate the quality of the photography and it serves double duty as a coffee table book. I am in good company as well. Top Canadian talent and fashion photographers from NYC round the list, and I am definitely proud to say I was chosen for my snapshot candid style of photography that I seem to embrace. Even Sir Anthony Hopkins had his Canadian debut of his artwork in the Metamorphosis issue, as its called. Pick up a copy and enjoy the series that features a casual mix of fashion from American Apparel, and Vintage to some custom Parkdale attire. Keep your eyes open on instagram and I will be sharing more of this feature with not only Toronto, but the rest of the fashion world! A special thanks for Stef Lee, the stunning model who was patient enough with me for this shoot as I contemplated every little detail, and also for welcoming me into her home. Silv Ferreira who styled the shoot and provided incredible creative direction, ultimately offering up his own vision which worked so seamlessly with mine. Vanessa Garland who is a top notch Toronto makeup artist that I feel lucky to be able to work with from time to time on different creative endeavours,
Cait for C-Heads Magazine
I recently shot an editorial which featured in C-Heads Magazine, click here to see. Cait is an exceptional woman, and our collaboration embodies most of what my photography is about, natural beauty and art infused with candid moments. The significance of having an editorial featured in C-Heads cannot be under emphasized. This is a WORLD class independent art/beauty/fashion/lifestyle magazine, and almost everyone considers this to be the standard at which all other magazines are measured. Only a handful of Toronto fashion photographers have been featured, and I am pleased to be among them. I hope you check out Cait's set on C-Heads and enjoy, but please note it is NSFW, so make sure your boss isn't watching over your shoulders. Enjoy!
Interview with Photographer – Guido Di Salle
Recently I was approached for an interview by Dj Cobalt 60 who also runs an uncensored blog. This was a great interview really worth the read and you can read the whole interview here. The nice thing about this interview is that I get asked some really thoughtful questions that I typically don't get asked. Inspiration for images is talked about, my thoughts on what I find beautiful, and photography in general. If you get 5 minutes or so give it a read. It is a fantastic interview and will give you a better idea of who Guido Di Salle is. If you like it, please share!
Brittani Bader at The Ludlow Hotel
In early September I had a quick little visit to New York City's lower east side where I had the opportunity to collaborate with one of New York's prettiest girls Brittani Bader with One Model Management. NYC has A LOT of pretty girls, so when I say she is one of the prettiest, that really is something. I met Brittani at The Ludlow Hotel, which is a boutique style hotel located on Ludlow st. in the lower east side and quite a cool place. I definitely recommend staying there if you have the opportunity. Aside from Brittani's breathtaking looks, she is one of the nicest, down to earth models I have ever worked with. I can't say enough about how professional and easy to work with she really was. Considering there was a minor hiccup in our scheduling (like both of us had planes to catch, me back to Toronto, her off to LA, and only had a little over an hour to work) we managed to come up with some great shots. The shot above was on top of The Ludlow facing Brooklyn. Ultimately our editorial was published in Yume Magazine and can be viewed here. It is nice to be able to work with such beautiful people who also have such beautiful personalities. I think most people in the fashion industry would agree that it is usually not the norm. It is also pretty cool to start networking outside of the Toronto circle and get a little exposure in New York City. Check out Brittani's instagram here and give her a follow. You wont be disappointed.. And as usual share the love.
