Its a beautiful day and summer is winding down. In fact, it is one of the hottest days of the year in Toronto. There is little to save us from the heat but we do our best with intermittent dips in the pool in between takes. Amanda hasn't been modelling for long, despite her natural beauty and relative ease in front of the camera. She chooses to shoot a piece for GQ Italia with me. (click here to see it on GQ)
The mood is light, and the less clothing on the better. It is one of those days. Amanda is carefree and completely relaxed in front of the lens. More time passes, and the mood never stops being upbeat. We have no makeup, no wardrobe, and no assistants. This is the real art of photography as practiced by the greats such as Mario Testino, Terry Richardson, Annie Leibovitz, Diane Arbus, and Juergen Teller. The editorial brings us back to a time when photos were not heavily edited, or too "clean". Photos had personality, some character. This editorial is everything I love about photography. Less emphasis on the equipment, and more emphasis on living in the moment.
Night falls, and Amanda and I literally take the last photo of the set as it begins to pour down rain like nothing Toronto has seen before. This was an incredible day of shooting, and such an incredible honor to be featured on GQ Italia as their first Toronto fashion photographer to contribute. Humbled to be featured next to some of the best photographers in the world.

Taylor for Jute Magazine
Jute fashion magazine recently caught up with the stunningly beautiful Taylor to do a little interview with the up and coming Canadian model accompanied with a photo story shot by me. Luckily, I was the one who scouted Taylor and placed her with her first modelling agency in Toronto. Besides the obviously natural beauty she posseses, this young model has an incredible personality and great aura. Definitely worth watching this girl as all signs point to success. Beach Babes
I had the opportunity to shoot 3 beautiful girls from Plutino Models for Faces Magazine. I wont bore you with the story, but from the few images I post here you can get a sense of the vibe we had going. There isn't anything more raw and beautiful then doing a photoshoot on the beach. This is the type of photography that can really be challenging but ultimately very rewarding. Combine the sheer beauty of these girls with the fact that I got to work on my tan while shooting this editorial and you have a win win situtation. Special thanks to the invention of bikinis.
Baewatch for Acclaim Magazine
I recently shot Riley for Acclaim Magazine in the baewatch feature which showcases up and coming models and keeps readers informed as to who to watch out for. Shooting Riley was a lot of fun, and I took particular pride in this editorial because Riley was a model I scouted. Originally from the east coast I placed Riley with Plutino Models in Toronto. If you are unfamiliar with Acclaim Magazine you can check them out here. Based in Australia, the magazine showcases fashion, art, culture and music. Definitley give it a peak. Australia is where I seem to get a lot of editorial press. Maybe its because of the candid style of photography I have, or perhaps the fact that Aussie's definitely appreaciate beautiful women. Either way its a pleasure to have my work showcased next to some of Australia's top fashion photographers.
The Bombshells
So, I have been busy shooting models, scouting, and planning more content creation with little time to update my blog. Late is better then never. Take the time to check out these editorials shot for Damaged Digital in LA and Sticks and Stones Agency in Australia. The sets can be viewed here and here. Both editorials feature local bombshells Stephanie and Alexis both of Lang Models. I can't tell you how much fun shooting these fashion editorials in the dead of night is. This is really what I love. The bright flash, the night sky, no body to stop and gawk and ask what we are up to. For me this is fashion photography in its purest form. Some people might refer to this as more street photography, but I really don't care. My point and shoot style of taking photographs is resonating internationally and locally, and people are starting to get the raw straight to the point nature of my work. When I had the opportunity to collaborate with Erin Wagner in NYC recently I was thrilled. Erin and I shot a very cool, almost GQ inspired editorial at The Time Hotel in midtown. I have been busy at work and am playing catch up. 5 editorials dropped almost simultaneously. I shot 2 editorials for the first edition of Coy Magazine, which is a really cool independent fashion and art magazine from the Uk. The others were for The Bski Mag, Lions Magazine, and Reseur Mag. All European based publications where my style is a little more well received. Toronto is still wrapping its mind around real photography. Last but not least, I shot an interview for The Idle Man with featuring Nola Palmer which can be viewed here. Really cool interview because she gives some honest answers. Check it out.
