Summer Crush Yume Mag Editorial
Recently shot the beautiful Oksana Rose (again) and this time for Yume Mag. This editorial was shot in Toronto at a beautiful estate on the Bridle Path in a circa 1960's ranch style bungalow. The editorial can be viewed in its entirety here or alternatively you can view more photos atguidotakespictures.com . This shoot was a blast with its summer vibes, beautiful model, and shot in one of Toronto's more esteemed areas. Yume magazine is an Australian based publication showcasing some of the world's best talent. It is always nice having new editorials come out and sharing them with the world. If bikini's, beautiful blondes, and cool architecture are your sort of thing, then definitely check it out. Also pay special attention to the zebras, because we all had a soft spot for them.
High Snobiety
Recently I shot the uber babe Alexis Armour for High Snobiety which can be viewed in its entirety here or if you want to see more of the editorial you can head to guidotakespictures.com and see even more of Alexis. It's really cool to have shot Alexis for High Snobiety which has a massive following and only features the world's hottest talent. Alexis is definitely one to watch. She recently completed the video to "my love" with Majid Jordan and Toronto's very own Drake and she comes to life in front of the camera. It is one of my favorite editorials I have shot so far and i definitely cant wait to get behind the camera for our next collaboration! Enjoy.
Interview
Recently did an interview for a magazine called B-Authentique which can be viewed by clicking here. I have included the interview below for those that don't care to see the editorial that accompanied it. Definitely cool to have given an interview from the photography side of things. Hope you enjoy!
In a few words, tell us a little bit about yourself?
I am a hairdresser turned fashion photographer. I only shoot women right now because that is where I see the most beauty.
How long have you been a photographer?
1 year.
How did you discover photography?
When I was 8 or 9 years old my father bought a Minolta Maxxum Af 7000. The first autofocus camera, I thought it was (and still do) a piece of art.
How was your first shooting? What did you shoot?
I shot a model, indoors and my lighting was HORRIBLE… Could barely look at the pictures. Thank God I didn’t give up.
How would you describe your style?
My style is simple. Because of my hairdressing background and my personality, women feel incredibly comfortable around me. This enables me to capture a “snapshot” of a particular moment. It could be candid, it could be fun, but it is almost always up close and personal. The photograph is almost an afterthought, it is more about the moment.
What does photography mean to you?
It has become the ultimate form of expression for me. I am able to translate what I think is beautiful or cool or quirky into a photo which will live forever.
What inspires you?
Other artists inspire me, life inspires me, sometimes nostalgia inspires me. I might have a memory of an instance or something I have seen (I have a photographic memory) and I may incorporate that into a photo.
What would you like to photograph?
I already photograph what I want to, which is women. If I could choose one in particular it would be Amanda Seyfried… Her eyes!!
A photographer you particularly admire?
Mario Testino..
What is happiness?
Doing what you love, surrounding yourself with people that you love, and realizing that happiness comes from within.
If you could live anywhere, where would it be?
Sicily, San Vito Lo Capo.
What’s your next goal?
To photograph Amanda Seyfried.
School's Out
School's out is an editorial that was released today on Lastdaze. You can see the editorial here. The beautiful Oksana Rose of Lang Models captured that perfect school's out spirit with a total summer vibe. These are the kind of natural light photography shoots that I enjoy most. Direct sun, beautiful girls, cool styling and real atmosphere. If you get a chance please head to Lastdaze.co (In the link above) and check it out. Also, stay tuned for another incredible shoot I just completed with this natural beauty! xx
Editorial Photography in Toronto
Thought I would share this picture my lovely girlfriend took of me candidly while I enjoyed a recent editorial I shot for a European based lifestyle magazine called The B'Ski Issue. The magazine features some really cool editorials from some pretty well established fashion photographers and some up and coming photographers such as myself. It is cool to see your work being featured alongside some spectacular talent, and even more so because Toronto isn't particularly known for its cutting edge photography. There are a handful of Toronto fashion photographers that are working hard to push the envelope and I consider myself to be one of them. Im definitely trying to break the conservative brand of photography that Canadian modelling agencies and magazines have become so accustomed to. Sipping a Montenegro on the rocks while checking out my editorial and the amazing work of others is a real treat. If you havent done so already, give my instagram a follow @guidodisalle to see more of my work and keep up with my particular brand of photography.
Arsenic Magazine Editorial
Just had a really cool editorial drop on Arsenic Magazine with the beautiful Manda Mae that can be seen here. Please check it out, share it and like it because the only way Arsenic Magazine is going to give me a full feature is if the editorial gets enough "likes". Yes that's right, its like high school all over again, but this time instead of people having to like me, they just have to like my work! It would be great to help get this out there as I am always working tirelessly to put this toronto hairdresser and photographer on the map. One editorial at a time. Being an editorial photographer in toronto isn't easy.
Daria sells for Latch Magazine
I shot Daria for Latch Magazine awhile back and finally get to show off this set. You can see the editorial here and if you want to see some shots that weren't included in the editorial head to guidotakespictures.com (its worth checking out because this is one cool photoshoot). Check it out, and if you can share it. This hairdresser+photographer thing is really working out, and Toronto needed someone to shake things up a little..
Balayage in Toronto
When clients are referred to me for my know how with working with blonde, they are also coming to see me because I offer an honest assessment on wether or not they should be going blonde in the first place, what shade would suit them best, and what route is best to take.
Isabel is a great example of my ability with blonde. She has extremely long hair (which I love) and wanted to make sure not only that we could achieve the blonde she wanted, but also wanted reasonably healthy hair. Being a dancer and actress, her hair is important to her. After a short consultation I decided her hair could handle the process. I did a complete head of foil highlights and also balayage. The 2 different techniques used in conjunction gave Isabel her desired shade of blonde while still giving the hair some dimension and avoiding the "flat" blonde color that is so common. Contrary to popular belief Balayage in Toronto is not a new technique, and in fact, I was taught and mastered this technique over 18 years ago whilst studying under Sassoon trained stylists. Unfortunately in Toronto there is a widespread belief that Balayage is something new and superior. It is definitely an excellent technique but has its limits and needs to be used accordingly. As with anything else discretion is key.
When choosing your blonde specialist you need to address what products are being used, what the maintenance will be like, and if your hair can even handle being that beautiful shade of California Blonde which is all the rage. Choose Wisely!
"Really, Really, Really Ridiculously Goodlooking"
If really, really, really ridiculously goodooking (in the words of my friends in Australia) girls are your thing, then check out my latest exclusive editorial for Sticks and Stones Agency here. I shot the stunning Ruqayyah from B&M Models in the Annex area of Toronto. We even managed to pay homage to Honest Ed's by snapping some shots there, pity that the landmark is coming down. This one of my favourite shoots to date and its nice to see my work showcased next to some of the top and emerging photographers in the world. I am seamlessly marrying the art of hair and photography together and its cool to be getting recognition around the world. Check the shoot out and please share it with people... My work needs to be seen to be appreciated. Also, head to Guidotakespictures.com to see more pictures of Ruqayyah and other beautiful women.
